MEDICAL

PURPOSE

TYPES OF MEDICALS

  • Class 2 Medical: Required for Private Pilot License (PPL) and Student Pilot License
    (SPL).
  • Class 1 Medical: Required for Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and Airline
    Transport Pilot License (ATPL).

COMPUTER NUMBER

Structure of DGCA CPL Examination

The DGCA CPL (Commercial Pilot License) Examination evaluates the theoretical and practical knowledge required to become a licensed commercial pilot in India. Below is the structured breakdown

Eligibility Criteria

Age: Minimum 18 years.

Passed Class 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and English.

Class 1 Medical fitness certificate from DGCA-approved examiners.

Minimum of 200 flying hours logged, including specific requirements like cross country, night flying, and instrument hours.

The CPL theoretical exams are conducted by DGCA, and the subjects include

AIR METEOROLOGY

1. Weather patterns and their impact on flight operations.

2. Aviation meteorology and forecasting.

AIR REGULATION

1. DGCA rules and regulations.

2. International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.

AIR NAVIGATION

1. Principles of navigation.

2. Calculations related to direction, distance, and time.

3. Use of aeronautical charts and instruments.

TECHNICAL SPECIFIC

1. Radio Telephony Restricted (Aeronautical)Communication skills using standard radiotelephony procedures.

2. Mandatory separate exam conducted by the Wireless Planning & Coordination (WPC) Wing.

TECHNICAL GENERAL

1. Principles of aircraft systems and components.

2. Aircraft performance and limitations.

RTR - A

(Type-Specific Aircraft)Systems, procedures, and performance of the specific aircraft type being flown.

  • Conducted in a DGCA-approved Flight Training Organization (FTO).
    Practical assessment of flight skills, including:
        • Take-off and landing.
        • Cross-country navigation.
        • Instrument flying and emergency procedures.

Minimum 70% and above in each subject.

Ten years from the date of passing the first subject.
